Be Concrete

Compare:

"Hi, friend, it's been a long time."

with:

"Hi, Woodward, Deep Throat here. It's been 12 years since the Pulitzer and I still ain't got my check."

Which one stimulates your imagination more? Which one is easier to respond to?

A good Exercise is to convert vague statements into concrete, specific ones.

Stuff just magically happens when you put concrete things into a scene.

If you just tell your imagination to be concrete, it's amazing what kinds of stuff pops out compared to telling your imagination "be funny" or "don't take chances".
